The largest museum for visual arts in the Southwestern United States. Art on display covers American, Asian, Contemporary, European, Latin American, Fashion, Modern, Western American and photography. The work covers most time periods.
The Heard Museum

Art Events in Phoenix
Every Thursday night in Scottsdale, over 100 galleries open up their doors to the public for the Scottsdale Art walk. Happening between 7pm and 9pm, it is a great way to get to know artists and galleries.
Covering 70 days in January, February and March, 100 world-class artists are on show at the Arizona Fine Art Expo.
The Native American Arts Festival hosts more than 200 award-winning artists and exhibits both traditional and modern Native American Art. You will be able to see jewelry, pottery, basketry, weaving, kachinas, painting, beadwork and more. You’ll also be able to enjoy authentic Southwestern food, music and dancing. The event is usually held sometime in January.
Each winter the Celebration of Fine Art comes to Scottsdale, Arizona. The Celebration of Fine Art allows residents and visitors to enjoy the exhibits of 100 of the finest artists in the country. In 2009, the event will take place from January 16th through March 29th.
Artists associated with Phoenix
Janet Echelman specializes in public art installations. One of her prominent pieces, called “Her Secret is Patience”, is suspended above the Phoenix Civic Space. It is 100 foot tall, hovering above treetops and buildings.
Rachel Bess is known for her highly realistic, sometimes surrealistic, oil paintings. Her work is inspired by her love of science and mathematics, which can be found in her work.
