Artists from California
Jackson Pollock (1912-1956) was a major player in the abstract expressionist movement and studied at Los Angeles' Manual Arts High School. He lived a famous and notorious life and his work continues to be exhibited and honoured today.
Ansel Adams (1902-1984) is most famous for his black-and-white photographs of the American West. He developed the ‘Zone System’, which is a way to get high clarity in photos. Many of his images are featured in calendars, posters and books, and recognised in homes throughout the world.
