Brooklyn, New York Art Galleries

Most of the art in Brooklyn is located in DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Underpass). There are also a few galleries just west of Whitman Park. Galleries in Brooklyn include:

Causey Contemporary

The Gallery represents contemporary artists from emerging through to maturity. Their focus is to bring collectors to the right artist and help them nurture their relationship. They put on 11 shows per year from a group of 13 core artists. They also participate in international art fairs and expos.

Farmani Gallery

Founded in 2003, the Gallery works with emerging and mid-career contemporary photographers from around the world.

Gitana Rosa Gallery

The Gallery’s contemporary artists all share a common theme of promoting ecologically-friendly values. This is mainly done through imagery or the materials used to create the art. 15% of the sales go to local and national non-profit charities.

Klompching Gallery

They collect and exhibit contemporary fine art photographs. The owners, Darren Ching and Debra Klomp Ching enjoy bringing new talent to the art scene, as well as under appreciated photographs by established artists. The aim of the gallery is to exhibit original photographs that challenge the viewer.

Momenta Art

It is an artist-run gallery that promotes emerging and underrepresented artists. They show art tat is not represented in commercial galleries because of form or content. They promote artists of all ages, races and ethnicities.

Randall Scott Gallery

Established in 2006, the Randall Scott Gallery represents emerging and mid-career artists at an international level. The Gallery works closely with their artists to help them develop their particular medium, continually challenging their ideas and methods.

Sideshow Gallery

Founded by Richard Timperio in 1999, the Gallery is used to foster local artists and give them exposure to the larger artists’ community. The space in experimental and exhibits a diverse range of art from paintings to installation, from readings to concerts.

Well known galleries in Brooklyn

BRIC Arts Media, established in 1979, enriches the cultural landscape of Brooklyn by presenting, producing and enabling a diverse collection of quality contemporary art and performances. They also run a successful community program including lectures and hands-on events. Up to a million locals annually participate in some way with the arts center.

Smack Mellon’s mission is to nurture and support emerging, lesser-known mid-career and women artists by providing exhibition opportunities, studio workspace, and access to equipment and technical assistance for the realization of ambitious projects. The Gallery puts on five exhibitions per year on average showing the work of over 50 artists for 20,000 visitors. Admission is free and the organization is open five days a week.
