No Matter What Shape
Mick Mather’s Art Blog is an archive of his work, and is now a pretty extensive collection; the blog started in June 2006, and has been added to on a daily basis since then.
Mather’s journey as an artist is an interesting one. He started out as a watercolor painter, spent a decade working in graphic design and graphic arts, before moving on to printmaking and, most recently, digital media.
Mather’s posts are usually comprised of an image of his work, and a little background information, like why he chose the title, or what the inspiration was behind the piece. We particularly enjoy these short anecdotes, which are often accompanied by insightful reader comments.
The No Matter What Shape art blog acts as a companion to Mather’s main blog. Posts on this blog date from 2003 to the present, and include Mather’s older work, and alternate versions of works that appear on the Mick Mather Art Blog. Not all artists are comfortable exposing their work in this way, but those that are should consider this approach.
We recommend Mather’s art blogs to those interested in digital media and printmaking, but there is a lot that those with other artistic tastes will find of interest. Artists looking to find their niche, or looking for a way to make their blog do more for them, should also check out Mather’s blogs.
