Leap into the Void
Visit the Leap into the Void art blog.
Leap into the Void is a record of Michael Buitron’s ongoing exploration of the world around him. California is a regular setting for blog entries, and the lens through which Buitron frames his thoughts is often visual art, but further categorisation is neither possible nor appropriate – for what is very much a no limits journey.
We particularly enjoy way Buitron explores the psychology and motives behind artist’s work. He is also excellent when highlighting, and drawing-out social and political considerations – not least because of the extremely balanced, and impeccable facts-as-we-know-them stance that Buitron adopts to whatever subject he is covering at the time.
Buitron reports on art-lectures that he has attended, giving a good overview of what was discussed. This is a great resource for those who cannot make a seminar themselves.
Leap into the Void is a great read for those that share Buitron’s passion for intellectual exploration. Certainly, those who have enjoyed the wide-ranged writing of, say, Edward Winkleman will find plenty of food for thought in this Buitron’s blog.
We like this article:
Francis Alÿs’ Fabiola at LACMA, February 11th 2009
Why we like it:
It is a write-up of Francis Alÿs’ installation, which is a collection of Saint Fabiola paintings. We enjoyed the short video of the work.
