Tim McFarlane describes his art blog as ‘art, photography, and random thoughts’.
The art part represents the bulk of posts to McFarlane’s blog, and focuses primarily on documenting McFarlane’s working life as a painter. The entries we enjoy the most showcase McFarlane’s work as it takes shape. Most artists find it difficult to share their work in this way, which is completely understandable, but it does add an extra level of appreciation for an artist when you are able to see them at work, and understand the effort required. Finished works are also displayed, sometimes as follow-ons to earlier work-in-progress posts.
Photography entries develop from McFarlane’s travels with a camera, where he takes time out from his journey to capture images that have caught his eye. We find these entries interesting, as McFarlane has great observational skills, and takes some great photos in both black and white and colour.
The main reason we enjoy this art blog so much, then, probably lies in McFarlane’s ability to observe and explain so clearly and thought provokingly. That McFarlane combines these skills with the ability to produce excellent art and photography, make this art blog irresistible to us.
