Created in Birmingham (CiB) is an art blog established by Creative Republic (West Midlands) Community Interest Company, who receives funds from the English Arts Council and Business Link. The role of the art blog is to act as a hub to link-up the creative and artistic community in the UK city, Birmingham.
We find this art blog to be an excellent source of information. The coverage does a great job of meeting the diverse requirements, with information for everyone from artists and art lovers seeking advice and guidance, to parents and schools wanting to educate their children.
We particularly like the way the CiB serves as promotional support for artists and events. Great PR and marketing tips mix with the ability for artists to post their news on the site (provided CiB judge the news relevant).
CiB consistently achieves its two purposes: to promote the Birmingham art scene; and to show how effective an art blog can be. It has won the 2008 Weblog Award for the Best UK Blog, and is joint-winner of the Media Guardian Innovation Award for Independent Blog 2008.
We recommend anyone interested in art take a trip to CiB – although a visit will be most rewarding to those living in Birmingham. We also say to those with a cultural remit tying to figure out how to develop a more vibrant creative community: take a look at this art blog as an option for your area, because it is surely one of the better investment opportunities you could make.
