New.York.Art.Crit is the most expansive art blog we have come across, and we mean this in all senses of the word expansive.

Haber is obviously compelled to write about art, and continuously produces a prodigious quantity of high quality content. Whilst he started his blog with no interest in his work being read by others, we think that he has come to enjoy sharing his thoughts – efforts to make archived entries accessible, a slight shift in writing style, and the recent switching on of a comments facility, all point in that direction.

First time visitors to this art blog may find themselves wondering if it is for them. This, in our experience, is purely a presentational factor: the blog has a grained background, which makes it a little difficult to read at times, and gives the impression of containing content aimed squarely at academics – which it is not.

Start reading, and you may be in for another surprise. The title of the blog suggests art criticism, geographically focused on New York. Readers will find quickly find coverage of the history of art, articles on many, many artists, thoughts on hosts of exhibitions (past and present), artistic tips and tricks, and so on. In fact, Haber’s approach is simply to share the things he comes across in the art world that have made him stop and think.

Whilst this site is an art blog, new readers should really look on it as one of the best sources of art commentary around. Certainly, with over 4,500 links, anyone with an interest in art will find a visit well worthwhile.

We like this article:
It is an impossible task to choose one article – a top 100 would be problematic enough. We recommend that you just dive in, with the surety that you will find plenty of interest.
