Working Artist’s journal
Vist the Working Artist’s journal art blog.
Working Artist’s journal sets out to depict Conti’s life as an artist. As you would expect, quite a few entries exhibit her art and the processes behind it. However, this art blog goes deeper by covering her life and thoughts as an artist on a whole. For example, there are a lot of posts that involve the topic of politics – looking at the effect policy decision could have on the art world and vice versa. One entry we like discusses the painting Hope by Victorian artist, George Frederic Watts, which inspired Barack Obama.
Conti is primarily a realist painter using acrylic, although she occasionally creates installations using mixed media. Mythology and symbolism is deeply rooted in her work and make an appearance in each piece of work in some form. Conti is mostly influenced by her neighbourhood, Sunset District, and gets most of her inspiration by simply walking round the area.
