About Hrag Vartanian
Hrag Vartanian is a New York-based writer, art critic, and cultural worker.

Vartanian cultural work relates to his role as the Director of Communications for the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). The organisation works throughout the world to promote Armenian heritage though educational, cultural and humanitarian programs.

Vartanian also writes for various sites including the popular online magazine, ArtCal, where he covers the ever-dynamic street-art scene in New York. He explores its impact on the cultural boundaries of the art world as well as the response from the public. Vartanian is also a contributor for Art:21, providing some engaging interviews with artists, and bloggers such as Paddy Johnson of Art Fag City. He appears as an art critic for the Brooklyn Rail as well.
