Heart as Arena
Visit the Heart as Arena art blog.
Heart as Arena is named after a phrase in a Jean-Michel Basquiat painting. Coverage primarily revolves around reviews of artists and exhibitions, located mainly on the East Coast of the USA. The occasional post will spark up an enthralling discussion – the entry covering the Barkley L. Hendricks show in Harlem being a particularly good example. (See the Christmas Came Early to the House of Brent post, dated 3rd January 2009, for more.)
Entries include plenty of images, which is not unusual in itself; the impeccable selection, and accompanying narrative, make Heart as Arena a standout for those on the look out for an artist they have not seen before.
We like this article:
Houses in Motion: Angela Dufresne, 26th November 2008.
Why we like it:
It is a concise summary, with pictures, of Dufresne’s work, which properly encapsulates the beauty of her art.
