Hungry Hyaena
Visit the Hungry Hyaena art blog.
The Hungry Hyaena’s covers a variety of subjects, including art, conservation, ecology and philosophy. Readers can also expect the occasional piece of Reiger’s art, or a movie review.
Entries include reviews of other artists works and works by the artist. Artist reviews are generally positive, and go into a good deal of detail to clarify Reiger’s thoughts on the subject – often drawing from a variety of fields (economics and science being two examples) to provide the required perspective. Reiger is particularly good at drawing blog entries to a close, whilst leaving the reader plenty of room for further contemplation. We find ourselves contemplating entries long after we first read them.
Reiger’s art combines the real with the metaphorical, with landscapes and animals frequently representing societal complexities. The work takes on the unknown with the scientifically proven, depicting how the world also follows this trend. Reiger calls this ‘hysterical transcendentalism’, in which our views can be viewed as blending the scientific facts of the day with religion or superstition.
One thing that really adds to the blog for us are the topics listed down the right-hand side. Many of the links cover things other than art, but we took a look at a lot of the sites mentioned, and found them to be uniformly excellent. The resonance that we think a lot of art lovers will also feel to these additional topics does an excellently understated job of reinforcing Reiger’s views.
