Golgonooza
Viisit the Golgonooza art blog.
Most of the entries in Steve Smith’s art blog revolve around his thoughts on other artists work – often focusing on works that are being exhibited at the time of writing. This is not an art blog written in the style of an art critic though. Entries represent Smith’s thoughts as they evolve through consideration of the art work, and are much more of a commentary of his thoughts than a critique. This aspect is one of the reasons this art blog stands out for us.
Smith’s strength as a commentator is his ability to relate art to society. (Specifically, societal constructs). He will often use an entry as the foundation to talk about wider social implications. His views are entirely candid, and well supported by objective reasoning. Smith goes into the detailed required to appropriately explain often quite detailed subject matter, and we tend to spend somewhere between 20 minutes, and an hour per entry – the latter including some secondary reading, inspired by the entry.
We recommend this art blog to those who enjoy exploring contemporary art in detail, and use art blogs as a source of inspiration for further reading.
